So how does one go about plugging into the life of Living Hope? There are four easy steps to doing just that!
Church 101: Membership
Church 101 is our introductory membership course. It is designed to answer the questions "what is a church?" and "why do I want to be a member of one?" We will be offering Church 101 four times in 2011: January 9th, April 10th, July 10th, and October 9th.
Barnabas Process
After completing Church 101 you will be enrolled in the Barnabas Partners program, a 90-day process designed to enhance your worship experience, encourage your daily walk with God, and enlarge your relational circle in the church. By the end of the 12-week Barnabas Partners program you should find that you are fully immersed in the membership life of the church, capitalizing on the benefits of ministries like midweek, women's and men's ministries, outreaches, etc.
Church 201: Ministry
After you are officially welcomed into membership you are eligible to serve one of the ministries of Living Hope. This step begins with Church 201, our introduction to ministry at Living Hope. At the close of this meeting the Director of Ministries will give you an application for ministry involvement and schedule a personal interview with you in order to place you on a ministry team.
Ministry Placement
Following your personal interview, the Director of Ministries will meet with the pastor to discuss your placement and, pending the approval of the pastor, you will receive a letter informing you of the ministry team that you have been appointed to.
Living Hope's Statement of Faith
We believe the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired word of God; the authoritative record of God's revelation, the vehicle of that revelation to those who approach it in faith, and the final authority for matters of life and faith.
We believe that God is the Creator of all things seen and unseen, temporal and eternal, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and that his atoning sacrifice and resurrection is the sole source of salvation for all humankind.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who comes to move human beings toward faith in Christ, to make Jesus present to those who believe, and to empower believers to live as Christ lived by graciously endowing them with miraculous, revelatory, and prophetic gifts.
We believe that the Church is the primary instrument of God's kingdom on earth, that it is comprised of all who possess saving faith in Jesus Christ (past, present, and future), and that it is made visible through the local church. It is therefore essential for all believers to commit themselves to a local church as a primary place of submission and discipleship.
We believe that heaven and hell are real places, and that Jesus Christ is coming again to bring about the resurrection and final judgment.
Benjamin and Sunhee Robinson are the founding pastors of Living Hope. They both earned Bacherlors Degrees from Patten University in Oakland, and then went on to study at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, where Sunhee earned a Masters Degree in Inter-Cultural Studies and Benjamin earned his Masters Degree in Biblical Studies and Theology. Benjamin is also a Ph.D. candidate in Renewal Theology at Regent University in Virginia Beach.
In September of 2003 God dropped the vision and calling for Living Hope in their hearts, and on January 4th, 2004 Living Hope Christian Center was born. The mandate they received from the Lord was to mobilize the people that God would send for world missions.
Benjamin and Sunhee have thus always seen Living Hope as a deployment center focused upon fulfilling the omni-ethnic mandate of the Great Commission. The result has been the growth of a church devoid of any sense of ethnic predominance that sees itself as a local expression of a global community.
Benjamin and Sunhee are indeed a dynamic duo! Both are powerful preacher/teachers with both a prophetic and apostolic edge. Both are sought-after conference speakers and revivalists. Both are passionate worshippers of God, and both have a deep love for people and desire to journey with people toward wholeness and fullness in Christ!
After 8 years of frustration, Benjamin and Sunhee were blessed with the birth of their first child in the summer of 2009. Alethia Sarang keeps them on their toes and is a joy and delight to the Living Hope community. Benjamin and Sunhee find it a great joy, privilege, and delight to serve Living Hope as its founding pastors. Their vision is to identify, equip, and release an army of next generations laborers who will gather in the end-time harvest across the world.
